Your first step on your faith journey should be a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The Bible says in Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Jesus loves you and died for you, taking on himself the punishment or penalty for your sins. While everyone has made the choice to sin, Jesus came to save us from our sins and to give us life- abundantly and eternally!
How do I become a follower of Jesus Christ?
Simple, sincere steps:
- Admit that I am a sinner.
- Bible references: Isaiah 53:6; Luke 13:3; Romans 3:23; I John 1:8
- Believe in Jesus and what He did for me.
- Bible references: Mark 1:15; John 1:12; Acts 16:31
- Confess (tell others) that He is Lord of my life.
- Bible references: I Corinthians 12:3; Romans 10:9-10
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-
and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-
not by works, so that no one can boast.
For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus
to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
Ephesians 2:8-9

Take the Next Step in your relationship with God and others:
- PRAY - Relationships grow through communication. Prayer is your communication with God. Take time to communicate your concerns, questions and desires with Him. Also take time to listen for how God will communicate with you! He speaks through His Word (Bible), in quiet moments, and through other people.
- Read and study the BIBLE - The Bible is a book of love letters from God to His children. Its message is not antiquated, but relevant for today. He introduces Himself to us and gives us basic principles, guidance, and inspiration on how to live. Just as our physical bodies need regular feedings to maintain good health and energy, so our spiritual life needs to be fed the Word of God. Set a daily time to read the Bible.
- FELLOWSHIP with other believers - This is where we gather with other Christ followers to encourage one another and help each other be accountable.
- WITNESS to others who need Christ - Every Christian is a missionary. II Corinthians 5:20 says, “We are ambassadors for Christ.” Ask God for opportunities to share your faith in Jesus Christ. Our lives should be a witness in both our words and actions.
- Be a GIVER - (Luke 6:38; II Corinthians 9:6-8; Proverbs 3:9-10) Let a flow of giving begin and grow in you. Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than receive.” Give forgiveness, time, talents and treasure!
- Be filled with the HOLY SPIRIT - (Luke 11:13; Acts 2:4,38-39) This experience will better prepare you for witness and ministry. There is much more from the Holy Spirit for us such as gifts (I Corinthians 12) and fruit (Galatians 5:22-23).
- Find a place to SERVE as a minister in Christ’s church - (Galatians 5:13; Ephesians 6:7) Christ wants us to find ways to serve others. And as we serve them, we should do so as though we are serving Jesus himself!
